Bloggers for Hope Frequently
Asked Questions
1. Can I volunteer to help in any way?
Yes, there
are many ways you can help including training, if you have computer or Internet
skills, or if you want to help with a fundraiser at your Church or civic
organization such as Lions Club, etc.
We also need
volunteers for many other things, so please contact
us and we’ll see how
to get you plugged in!
2. Do the bloggers work for your organization,
or are they independent?
All the bloggers
are independent, and do not work directly for our organization. We handle their training and supervision as
well as helping to provide the website domains, hosting, internet connections
and access to a computer for them. We
help get sponsors to hire them for blogging assignments, but we do not pay
them directly.
3. Are there rules that the bloggers
must adhere to?
Yes, we do
not allow inappropriate language, or blogging about or for adult sites or
content, gambling, political or other controversial themes.
4. What percentage of each donation goes
toward paying the bloggers?
All of the
donations we receive go toward the training, administration, and ongoing
needs of the bloggers. No amount goes
toward paying the bloggers directly. They must work for the money that they
earn from sponsors directly. Our intent
is to give them a way to make their own living, not to sustain them through
donations as other charities do. We aspire to the belief that they want to
earn their own way if given a chance.
5. Do you help children or only adults
with your program?
We only directly
help youth of working age who are completing or have completed schooling
to 12th grade level or above. By doing this, we can best help
the local economies in the countries in which we are working. Typically the
young adults we help are caring for a fairly large family of children and
older adults who are not able to
work themselves. By helping those
in the families who are able to work, they are able to then help a much larger
group than if we were only giving food and clothing donations directly to
a few family members.
6. What is a blog? A
blog is simply a story about any subject of interest. There are millions
of websites
devoted to a huge number of different interests. These sites are just like
any other website except they are devoted to specific topics of interest
and have frequent
updates. Anyone can subscribe to a
blog site, otherwise know as “web logs”, and can also link to them and make
comments on what they read on them. This
type of communication has changed the way people use the Internet and the
way most people get their news.
